The KwaZulu-Natal Fashion Council (KZNFC) was established in 2009 as a non-profit organisation, in response to the need to support the fashion design sector, through a strategic partnership between the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA). Our vision is to be the institutional driver for fashion and design in the province and our mission is to effectively organize and coordinate development and support for the fashion and design sector that contribute to the competitiveness of the clothing and textile industry. In order to achieve this, we develop numerous programmes and events including the Africa Fashion Exchange (AFX™).
The KZN Fashion Council’s flagship event, AFX™ is an annual fashion extravaganza that was launched in 2016 with the aim to promote and highlight KwaZulu-Natal’s key sectors; clothing, textile and manufacture. AFX™ incorporates a variety of activities that provide participants with an experience like no other. This includes; networking opportunities, knowledge-sharing sessions, exhibitions, film screenings and fashion show evenings. Fashion insiders including buyers and retailers, the media, celebrities, models, social media influencers and fashion gurus are some of the people that attend AFX™.
