The KwaZulu-Natal Fashion Council (KZNFC)

KZNFC is South Africa’s largest non-profit fashion council. Established in 2009, the Council represents over a thousand members. Through strategic partnerships with government departments, municipalities and private sectors, the KZNFC has been able to support, develop and promote the fashion industry.

Our purpose is to promote the home-grown fashion, design, culture and style of South Africa through harnessing and sharing knowledge, experiences, capabilities, and resources within the sector. We  are about collaborations and partnerships; bringing together the private and public sectors for the benefit of the fashion industry.

We organise a variety of programmes, events, and activities, in order to increase market access opportunities for our members and equip them with necessary business skills, market intelligence, and networking opportunities.  This includes our annual prestigious event – The Africa Fashion Exchange (AFX™).  AFX™ is highly recognized and considered as one of the most important fashion weeks KwaZulu-Natal.

The Council in collaboration with various partners such as district municipalities, private sector, leading fashion institutes, retailers and other industry stakeholders offer numerous designer development programmes which include: Ready2Retail™ Fashion Design Capacity Building Programme, the Legacy Project™, Up-Skilling Workshops/Short courses, Mentorships and  Master Classes.

Members of the Council are also exposed to local and international fashion and design trade shows, expos and fashion shows for bench-marking, trading and learning purposes.
