The KwaZulu-Natal Fashion Council (KZNFC)

Is South Africa’s largest non-profit fashion council. Established in 2009, the Council represents over a thousand members. Through a strategic partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (KZNEDTEA) we support, develop and promote the fashion design sector.

Our purpose is to promote the home-grown fashion, design, and style of KwaZulu-Natal by harnessing and sharing knowledge, experiences, capabilities, and resources within the sector. We  are about collaborations and partnerships; bringing together the private and public sectors for the benefit of the fashion design industry.

We organise a variety of programmes, events, and activities, in order to increase market access opportunities for our members and to equip them with business skills, market intelligence, and networking opportunities.  This includes our annual prestigious event – The Africa Fashion Exchange (AFX™).  AFX™ is highly recognized and considered as one of Africa’s most important fashion weeks to showcase the best that KwaZulu-Natal, the country and the continent can produce.

The Council in collaboration with various partners such as district municipalities, leading fashion institutions, retailers and other industry stakeholders offer numerous programmes including Ready2Retail™, the Legacy Project™, short courses, Master Classes.

Members of the Council are also exposed to local and international trade shows, expos and fashion shows for bench marking, trading and learning purposes.
